One of a handful of shops in the city that sells only Italian wines, this ultra-modern design showcase of a shop is attached to Centovini Restaurant.

Pros: Sleek, chic, and glass encased, Centovini is anything but cluttered. The name means “one hundred wines” and the focused selection just exceeds that number. Such a relatively small selection means each wine was thoughtfully selected and has earned its allotted shelf space. Since the sole focus is on Italy, expect to find some more obscure treasures among solid examples of classic Italian wines. Staff members are friendly and approachable. There is a 10% case discount and free delivery to Manhattan addresses on orders over $100. The shop is conveniently located close to multiple subway stations.

Cons: Looking for good cheap Chianti or Pinot Grigio for under $10? Well, you won’t find any here. At the time of writing, there were no wines on offer for under $10 a bottle. Although good values can be found, this is not a place to shop if you’re on a budget. The high-brow design might make you feel like you need to put on some formalwear just to shop there. Parking in this area is very difficult.
